INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND FRIENDSHIP CITIES COMMITTEE MINUTES An Open meeting of the International Relations and Friendship Cities Committee was held in the Clerk’s Committee Room, City Hall, 4949 Canada Way, Burnaby, B.C. on Wednesday, 2018 April 04 at 4:00 p.m. 1. Macdonald, Administrative Officer The Chair called the Open meeting to order at 4:08 p.m. 2. MINUTES a) Minutes of the International Relations and Friendship Cities Committee Open meeting held on 2017 December 13 MOVED BY councillor mcDonell SECONDED By councillor wang THAT the minutes of the International Relations and Friendship Cities Committee Open meeting held on 2017 December 13 be adopted. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 3. REPORT MOVED BY councillor mcDonell SECONDED By councillor wang THAT the report be received. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY a) Report from the Community Engagement Manager Re: 2018 Provincial Delegation to China – Council Representative The Community Engagement Manager submitted a report seeking approval for a Council representative to visit China with the Premier in 2018. The Community Engagement Manager recommended: 1. THAT a City of Burnaby Council representative, outlined in this report, be authorized to attend the Provincial delegation visit to China, 2018 January 19-26, and that all associated expenses be approved for payment in accordance with City Policy from the International Relations and Friendship Cities Committee 2018 operating budget. MOVED BY councillor mcDonell SECONDED By councillor wang THAT the recommendation of the Community Engagement Manager be adopted. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 4. NEW BUSINESS There was no new business brought before the Committee at this time. 5. INQUIRIES Councillor Calendino – City of Mesa Sister City Visit Councillor Calendino inquired regarding the status of the City of Mesa visit to the City of Burnaby Staff advised the visit will take place 2018 May 17-20. 6.
