An application request was received from the Chinese Taoism Kuan Kung Association for the Tian Jin Culture Festival to be held on 2015 May 16 - 17 at the Tian Jin Temple at 3426 Smith Avenue.  The festival activities include performances by musicians and entertainers along with Chinese Martial arts, folk/traditional Chinese dances and tai chi, unique crafts, paper cutting arts, special vendors and kids' activities.

An application request was received from the Korean Writers' Association of Canada for the Canada-Korea Literary Festival to be held on 2015 September 19 at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.  This event attempts to create understanding between Canadian and Korean cultures and forges a bond through multi-cultural performances of music and the reading and interpreting of poems written in another language.

Inclusion Festival

 

 

An application request was received from Southside Community Church for the Inclusion Festival to be held on 2015 June 13 at Ernie Winch Park.  This is a partnership of the Southside Community Church and the Inclusion Festival committee as a way to bring the community together, to facilitate connections, and to provide an afternoon of fun and culture with multicultural performers, games, arts, crafts and community displays.

An application request was received from the Burnaby Arts Council for the Deer Lake Craft Festival to be held on 2015 November 20 - 22 at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.  The three day festival features 50 juried crafters and artisans showcasing and selling their work and an entertainment program of performing artists in dance and music.

An application request was received from the Edmonds City Fair and Classic Car Show Committee for the Edmonds City Fair Classic Car and Motorcycle Show to be held on 2015 July 19 on Edmonds Street.  This City Fair is a street party with two components: an old fashioned Fair faturing two stages for live and DJ music, a youth talent show, petting zoo and rides, and international village, interactive community displays and food and refreshments; and a show and shine of approximately 100 classic cars and motorcycles.

An application request was received from the Scandinavian Community Centre for the Scandinavian Midsummer Festival to be held on 2015 June 20 - 21 at the Scandinavian Community Centre.  The 20th annual festival with a theme of capital cities will celebrate Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Iceland and Danish countries.  The two-day event showcases cultural song, dance, entertainment, performances, great cultural food and events for kids, country tents and a Viking village.

An application request was received from the Heights Merchants Association BIA for Hats Off Day to be held on 2015v June 6 along Hastings Street.  Voted as the Best Burnaby Festival since 2005 by readers of the community papers, Hats Off Day is a parade and an 11-block street festival featuring music, entertainment, performers, kids' activities, a vintage car show, multi-ethnic food and more.

An application request was received from the Korean Cultural Heritage Society for the Korean Cultural Heritage Day Festival to be held on 2015 August 8 at Swangard Stadium.  This free annual festival includes an opening ceremony of choreographed Korean arts and culture, Tae Kwon Do and tightrope walking performances, live entertainment, Korean and contemporary foods, art exhibitions, a kids' corner and souvenirs.
