6.1

BUDGET REQUEST TO SUPPORT PRISM IMPLEMENTATION: MANAGER OF AQUATICS

Purpose: To request Council's approval of a new Manager of Aquatics position, ahead of the 2024 budget process, to create capacity in Parks, Recreation and Culture (PRC) Department to deliver the PRISM project ahead of schedule. The proposed position will also focus on Council's priorities of decreasing swim lesson waitlists, offering innovative programs through the school district, and ensuring the City has the staffing levels in place to open the new additional aquatic facilities in 2023-2027.

LIQUOR LICENCE APPLICATION #22-06 - GRAND VILLA HOTEL AND RESTAURANT LIQUOR LICENCE AMENDMENT - 4331 DOMINION STREET

Purpose: To provide Council with information regarding an amendment to the liquor licence application for the Grand Villa Hotel and Restaurant and to initiate a public consultation process for the application.

LIQUOR LICENCE APPLICATION #23-02 - BIRDIES RESTAURANT - 3850 LOUGHEED HIGHWAY

Purpose: To provide Council with information regarding a liquor licence application for Birdies Restaurant and to initiate a public consultation process.

GRASSROOTS BIKE RACING 2023 - MAY 02 TO JULY 25, 2023 (TUESDAYS ONLY)

Purpose: To seek Council approval for road closures.

2023 INFRASTRUCTURE CANADA ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION FUND - VANCOUVER-SFU ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION CONNECTION PROJECT

Purpose: To seek Council’s endorsement for the Vancouver-SFU Active Transportation Connection Project and enter into a funding contribution agreement with Infrastructure Canada’s Active Transportation Fund.

CONTRACT AWARD - TWENTY SEVEN SUBCOMPACT CROSSOVER SUV ELECTRIC VEHICLES

Purpose: To obtain Council approval to award a contract for the supply and delivery of twenty seven subcompact crossover SUV electric vehicles for various City departments.

Purpose: To seek Council approval of a revised request for a Community Benefit Bonus Affordable Housing Reserve Grant to support the development of 12 rent geared to income units at 4281 Grange Street.

Purpose: To seek Council approval of the Draft Burnaby District Energy Policy.

Purpose: To provide an update on the activities of the Child Care Resources Group during 2022 and propose a work plan for 2023.

OTHER BUSINESS

UBCM and LMLGA Resolution Update

Council, at the February 27, 2023, Council meeting, adopted the "Equitable Communities" resolution for UBCM and LMLGA. Upon submission, there were three other municipalities who submitted the resolution to LMLGA, all with slightly different wording but the same intention. Rather than going forward with four different resolutions on the same topic, LMLGA is proposing one resolution that is co-sponsored by all four municipalities.
