Commissioner Jang inquired
regarding the Commission's inaugural meeting for 2016.
The Director Parks,
Recreation & Cultural Services advised that the inaugural meeting will be
held in February when the new Commissioner will be appointed by Council.
Commissioner Jang inquired
regarding the Pat Quinn Classic Christmas Tournament.
Staff
advised that the feedback was very successful. Comments about Bill Copeland
Sports Centre were positive. Thirty-four teams with 680
athletes and over 50 scouts attended the tournament. $15,000 was
raised for the Pat Quinn Legacy Fund.
Commissioner
Peppard expressed disappointment with the coverage in the local newspaper.
Commissioner
Alzner commented that the tournament was exciting. However, in view of the
City’s fee waiver, more than $15,000 could have been raised for the Pat
Quinn Legacy Fund.
Councillor
Kang inquired if more Grade 5 students are using the free
participation program offered by the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services and
suggested that notices be given to students to bring to their parents.
Staff
will provide an update on the program.
