Lyrids Folk Dance Festival

 

 

An application was received from the Burnaby International Folk Dancers Club for the Lyrids Folk Dance Festival to be held on 2017 April 21-23. The two and half day festival brings highly regarded international teachers in a multifaceted experience to share cultures from the Balkans and its neighbours and to foster understanding and interest in the cultures through music and dance.

An application was received from the African Canadian Soccer and Cultural Association for the African Soccer and Cultural Festival to be held on 2017 August 11-13 at the Burnaby Lake Sports Complex.  The festival showcases African culture through sports and cultural activities promoting volunteerism and community engagement within the African community.  Highlights include a soccer tournament, cultural performances, musical entertainment, ethnic food and children's activities and play area.

Scandinavian Midsummer Festival

 

 

an application was received from the Scandinavian Community Centre for the Scandinavian Midsummer Festival to be held on 2017 June 17-18 at the Scandinavian Community Centre.  This annual two-day festival celebrates the Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Icelandic and Danish countries.  With a program showcasing cultural songs, dance, entertainment, food and kids, the event is meant for the whole family.  Key highlights include the authentic Viking village and the traditional raising of the Maypole dance.

An application was received from the Eurofest BC Society for the European Festival to be held on 2017 May 27-28 at Swangard Stadium.  The festival features diverse activities and entertainment for the whole family. Key activities include a flag parade and opening ceremony, heritage cultural performances, authentic costumes, cultural displays, a market place, activities and games for children, workshops, demonstrations and a European style beer garden and food tent.

Latin Reggae Summer Fest

 

 

An application was received from the Latinos in Action Society for the Latin Reggae Summer Fest to be held on 2017 August 12-13 at Swangard Stadium.  The two day festival will bring a new celebration of international artists (from Mexico, Jamaica and Spain), national artists, local bands, market vendors and food trucks together in Metro Vancouver.
