An application was received from the Wildcoast Ecological Society in support of their Nature Science program taking place from 2022 February 14 to 2022 November 25. The goal of the program is to provide hands-on environmental education from restoration ecologists to children in Burnaby. The in-class & outdoor learning programs aimed at an estimated 811 students include: Growing Seeds for children Kindergarten to Grade 3; Mini Waterways for Grades 4-5; and, Cavity Nesters for Grades 6-7.

REQUEST: (P) $10,000

An application was received from Junior Achievement of British Columbia in support of their Bright Futures for all Burnaby Youth program taking place from 2022 January 01 to 2022 December 31. The goal of this program is to inspire, prepare and empower BC youth for lifelong success. Free business programs are offered to youth in Grades 4-12 that build skills such as: financial literacy; work readiness; and, entrepreneurship. The objective of the program is to deliver 50 programs in 2022 to an estimated 1,300 students.

REQUEST: (O) $25,000

An operating grant application was received from Global, Clinical, Social & Physical Activity Research Society in BC to offset expenses for their research program taking place from 2021 November to 2022 October. The program aims to evaluate adherence to a fitness program among French and English-speaking adults in Greater Vancouver (20% being from Burnaby) and create a bilingual and multi-ethnic exchange space. The goal is to have at least 100 participants ages 18-65 be assessed on their physical activities for three months.
